Nepal Clinches Historic Second T20I Victory Over West Indies

Nepal’s national T20I cricket team achieved a remarkable feat by securing their second consecutive victory over the West Indies in the ongoing Unity Cup series. Batting first, Nepal posted a formidable total of 173/6 in 20 overs. Aasif Sheikh led the charge with an impressive 68 runs off 47 balls, while Sundeep Jora contributed a solid 63 runs from 39 balls. Despite an early setback, Nepal’s middle order stabilized the innings, setting a challenging target for the West Indies. In response, the West Indies struggled against Nepal’s disciplined bowling attack. Mohammad Aadil Alam was the standout performer, claiming 4 wickets for 24 runs in his 4-over spell. Kushal Bhurtel also made significant inroads with 3 wickets, while Lalit Rajbanshi added 1 wicket to the tally. The West Indies were bowled out for a mere 83 runs in 17.1 overs, handing Nepal a commanding 90-run victory. This triumph not only secures the series for Nepal with a 2-0 lead but also marks a significant milestone in...

What Do people Think??

The essence of politics lies in addressing the desires and aspirations of the people. Looking back through history, we see that the changes people long for ultimately become the final truth. No government or political party can survive for long if it goes against the people’s will. In a nation like Nepal, a multiparty system is the only viable alternative. However, the absence of viable alternatives does not grant parties the prerogative to disregard the interests of the citizens. Corruption, factionalism, self-serving motives, and mismanagement within parties have engendered widespread discontent among the populace. In such circumstances, resolute young leaders within parties must assume the role of reformers. They must rectify the internal issues, enhance conduct and political culture, and respond to the growing voices from the grassroots. Political workers should also refrain from remaining mere followers or obedient servants. They must assume the role of conscientious citize...

People’s Aspirations and Political Responsibility

The Final Truth of Change The foundation of politics lies in the aspirations of the people. History has shown us repeatedly that the changes people desire ultimately become reality. From the Shah era to the Rana rule, through the democratic movement and finally to republicanism, Nepal’s political course has been shaped by the will and sacrifice of ordinary people. No matter how powerful a party, leader, or regime may appear, if it goes against people’s aspirations, it cannot endure for long. Therefore, understanding and addressing the people’s demands is the foremost duty of political leaders and parties. No Alternative to Parties, But Reforms Are a Must In today’s context, there is no alternative to multiparty democracy. Yet, the notion of “no alternative” must not become a safety shield for political parties. On the contrary, it should remind them of their responsibility to be more accountable and transparent to the people. Factionalism, corruption, unhealthy c...

Similarities Between Halloween and Sorasarad

Halloween in America and Sora Sarad in Nepal are different festivals but have a similar purpose. Halloween started as a belief that spirits visit the living, so people offered food and wore costumes for protection. Sora Sarad is a Hindu ritual where families pray and give offerings to ancestors for their peace and blessings. While Halloween is now more of a fun community event and Sora Sarad is a serious religious duty, both show respect for the dead and keep a connection with forefathers.

How Nepali People Celebrate Ghatasthapana?

Ghatasthapana is the first day of Dashain, Nepal’s longest and most important Hindu festival. The word “Ghatasthapana” literally means the establishment of the sacred pot (ghada), which symbolizes the goddess Durga. On this day, devotees invoke the goddess and begin the nine-day ritual of worship known as Navaratri. It marks the beginning of the Dashain festival and represents the victory of good over evil. On Ghatasthapana morning, a small clay pot filled with holy water is placed in a prayer room or a clean sacred space. Around the pot, a mixture of soil and barley seeds is spread, and it is covered so that the seeds can sprout into fresh green shoots called Jamara. A priest or the eldest male member of the household performs a ritual, chanting mantras and placing a kalash (sacred vessel) on the soil to invite Durga’s divine energy into the home. This Jamara is carefully nurtured for nine days with daily prayers and offerings. Nepali people celebrate Ghatasthapana with a se...

Two Topics Draw Attention From All Around The World

Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli recently made a controversial statement regarding the recent shooting incident in Nepal. According to him, the gun used in the firing did not belong to the Nepal Police. He claimed that the shooting, which led to the death of innocent people, was carried out by “other individuals” and not by the state security forces. His remarks have raised significant debate, as they attempt to shift the blame away from official security agencies. Oli’s comments have sparked mixed reactions among the public and political observers. Some argue that his statement undermines the credibility of the Nepal Police, while others see it as an effort to deflect responsibility from government institutions. The families of the victims, however, continue to demand accountability and justice for the loss of innocent lives. Meanwhile, another issue has also drawn public attention. A video circulating on social media allegedly showed a large amount of cash found in the ...
